On the morning of Wednesday, March 4, 1908, Ash Wednesday, the Lakeview School in the Collinwood Village caught fire. By the time the fire was put out, despite the valiant efforts of the community,

172 students, 2 young teachers and 1 rescuer were dead.

March 4, 2020 is the 112th Anniversary of the Fire.
